Our domestic house insurer requires us to have either co2 2kg or foam 6trs or dry powder 2kg in place of co2 or foam looking through your site their requirements look out of touch with fires in kitchens near wood burners. Please advise best options Robin

Hi I have seen the dry water mist extinguishers with an AF rating. Are they safe in a household, which typically has petrol (B rating) in the garage, gas fire (C rating) in the kitchen and electrical risks in computers etc? The manufacturer says the extinguishers are suitable for B,C and electrical. But there is no certification! Paul

Hi All, More advice needed please. I have a new customer who has been with Nu Swift for years. Several of their water additive extinguishers are over the 5 year discharge period although they have been serviced annually by Nu Swift. The client told me that Nu Swift told them that their units only need discharge testing every 10 years not 5 hence their eye watering charges. Is this correct as I don't want to cause them any more costs than is necessary. The extinguishers look the business but at over £300 quid each they should do !! I cant believe how they get away with it. I wish I could :) I've been on Nu Swifts web site and its totally useless in this…

Hi Is there any danger that the diffuser could be damaged and produce a stream of water rather than a mist and be dangerous to use on electrical fires?

I just noticed a number of Youtube videos produced by a company named 'Firebuggroup'. In one video - dated 2014 I believe - they claimed to have invented the worlds first water mist fire extinguisher. It is available in 3 and 6 liter configurations and happen to look exactly like the excellent units you sell. Are these guys OEM's for Jewelsaffire products - or actually the people behind the E-Series extinguishers? The company appear to have a UK/Polish related staff, so perhaps there is a link to the claimed polish inventor of the pulsator module.. Just curious. Finally, when are you going to get a reseller in Denmark ? Regards Michael

I have just had a fire extinguisher company for the extinguishers annual check, however watching the engineer, I noticed that he didn't always weigh the Co2 and or even remove the horn if he did weigh it, I'm sure there is a small seal to remove and replace with every check, He seems to look at the extinguisher dust it over and sign it.. Am I wrong in thinking he is doing something wrong. Yours Paul

I was curious , I was recently billed fro my fire extinguisher service , does hydro testing cost include the recharge fee or is the recharge fee separate fee when they service them ?

We have been asked for a fire detection system to be installed in two control rooms of a roof solar site in Isle of Wight. As you can see, each one is made up of one small fire panel and fire extinguishers. The questions are: - Does our company need any authorization or accreditation to install fire detection and extinguishing? - What are the standards where we can find out what is required to be installed in each case?

Hi We use 2kg powder extinguishers on our farm vehicles (sit on lawn mawers, tractors, delivery vans). Do these have to be serviced by engineers or could we do this ourselves and throw away after five years? Garry

Hi All, I need a bit of advice again please. I have a sports club customer that is having real problems with kids discharging extinguishers that are located in their grandstand. If I mounted cabinets there to put the extinguishers in is there a legal problem if I padlock them, preventing the kids tampering but allowing the responsible persons access via the grandstand keys ?? If this is illegal any other thoughts would be appreciated as always. Thanks Leighton

You can get polished stainless steel, water, foam, powder and CO2 extinguishers however almost all wet chemical extinguishers have stainless steel bodies with chromed brass fittings. then they paint them red and do not provide a polished version WHY is there a technical reason or is it supply and demand?

Recently a third party has used a powder extinguisher in our home. It was only used for about 1 second. I can't seem to clean it, and supposedly you aren't supposed to use water. I didn't realize this and I have mopped the entire floor. The marble looks faded and lost its shine, as did the wooden floor. Does anyone have experience? How worried should be about my electronics? There were non ein the hallway where it was used. Help would me massively appreciated!

Hello and thank you to who ever responds. I have had my fire extinguishers serviced today. I own a hairdressing salon of approx 300-400 feet square area. I have presently 2 extinguishers, 1 co2 and 1 h2o. The service engineer has carried out his inspection and replaced the relevant parts on the co2 bottle. How ever he has told me that the h2o bottle requires completely replacing due to the fact that the top handle is plastic and uv damaged? I would argue that it is merely dusty but for argument sake I accepted his expertise. He also said that due to new regulations and the floor space I require 2 h2o bottles to go with the co2? Am I getting correct advice or just sal…

For my major project I am designing a fire point system aiming to reduce fear and intimidation to people in the need for using fire extinguishers in a public or working environment. By changing the experience and the way people think and feel in that situation I'm aiming to provide confidence through the design. I have been informed of a co2 fire extinguisher at one of our installations,which has a green coloured horn. As green was the colour associated with the no longer produced halon extinguisher; does the horn need to be changed? Thanks Alan
