Hi, moved into a house that has 6x Ei141RC smoke alarms, 1x Ei144RC heat alarms and also 2x Ei261ENRC CO alarms. The are all wired for L, N and IC. However testing the CO by the push button, none of the smoke alarms sound (The unit itself alarms as if it is standalone). Are the models compatible or just the IC not working? All other alarms work when testing by the push button.

Hi, I've a question regarding smoke alarm categories and which is best suited/required for my home. House is a 2 storey 4 bed detached built in 2016 with a protected stairway fire strategy, fire doors to each of the rooms which exit into the hall/landing, the windows are not egress I currently have a Category L3 system installed with a smoke alarm in the hallway and landing, however I'm wondering if it should be an L2 system with a smoke alarm in each of the bedrooms, living room and a heat detector in the kitchen. I see that Approved Document B Volume 1 2013 states " new dwellinghouses should be provided with smoke alarms in accordance with the BS 583…

Hi. I'm looking to replace 3 660MBX's as 2 are now intermittently triggering and all are within a year of their end life. The site shows a suitable replacement; easichange® SBBRKSM but at various points mentions a twist fit base. The bases on all mine are the push fit type, as shown with the 760MBX. Can anyone confirm that the easichange® SBBRKSM will happily connect to this push fit base? Thanks Andy

Hi all, I live in a fairly new build 2 bed apartment and it has 3 smoke detectors. One of them started beeping every 40 seconds or so last night and had a red led showing. The following morning I replaced the battery and refitted it however the red light still hasn’t switched back to green. I think it’s a BRK smoke alarm but it does have DETA on the cover. Secondly the one in the kitchen is constantly going off, every time we cook, use the toaster etc (even if nothing is burnt) it still goes off! I spoke to an electrician I know and he recommended swapping it out for a heat alarm, would this work? Or is there something else I can do to shut it up?

Hello, I need to replace the three Ei141 smoke detectors I have in my house with new ones. The obvious solution is to use the Replacement for Ei141, but this is again another smoke detector with a battery that needs to be replaced. If I purchase the Ei3016, can I use the old base? And, will the inter-connectivity among the three smoke detectors remain the same given that I will not change the wiring? Best, Manolis

We have tested the alarms by pressing the test button and all interlinked alarms behaved as expected. As an extra level of testing we wafted some smouldering cardboard under them and they are not sounding an alarm, we have a Kitchen Heat Alarm fitted in the kitchen and that detected the smoke and heat source immediately. It seems strange that 3 new Smoke Alarms are all faulty or are we doing something wrong, all have been installed as per instructions, have back up batteries installed . What have we done wrong , please help. I would feel a right idiot returning them to the supplier to find out I have done or not done something crucial. Thanks in a…

Hi I have an interlinked set of four HSA/BP/RF10-PRO ten year battery smoke alarms plus one heat alarm purchased in July 2022. I took them all down last week as we had two false alarms and couldn’t turn them off. I have now put them all back up and each one gives one red flash when reconnected, except one which beeps on reconnection and then gives a fast double beep every ten seconds. I have had to leave this one disconnected. How do I stop this happening? Thanks

We have a house built approx 1999 with wired interlinked smoke detectors. These have 9v batteries which are replaced regularly. I believe that if either alarm senses smoke, both are activated. Do these alarms have a fixed lifespan or are they still ok if they seem to test ok ?

We have purchased the near protect gen 2 smoke and CO alarms for our house. We plan to have an extension so need these to be compliant with building regs. I’ve seen that it detects heat - can I use the nest protect in the kitchen as it seems to have a smoke, heat and CO2 in built or does this have to be purely a heat detector to pass building regs?

Hi - my smoke alarm started beeping last night so I decided to try and take the battery out. I think it's the Ei141 model. I turned the mains power off, but I can't for the life of me remove the cover to get the battery out. I've tried all kinds of different screw drivers inserted where instructed but the alarm cover WILL NOT slide off. Last night I gave up and have been trying again today with no luck, and have now broken some of the plastic around where the screw driver goes in so there now doesn't appear to be any little latch to lift off - but the alarm still wont budge! The alarm is right outside our bedroom doors and none of us are going to be able to sleep tonight …

Hi I have three Ei141 smoke alarms, one was bleeping and changing the battery didn’t resolve the problem. As all three were past their expiry date I have ordered replacements. Unfortunately, two of the three alarms are bleeping when the mains electricity is turned back on. Would welcome any suggestions for how to resolve this problem

Hi, I am looking to troubleshoot my smoke alarms. I have a hardwired system of 4x AICO Ei161rc 1x AICO Ei164rc All 5 alarms are beeping erratically and no LED is showing -> thought the wiring was off, as the expiry is dated Jul 2027. I had an electrician come over and check for a fault, but there seems to be power going to the alarms, see attached picture. Based on what my tenants (since moved out) have said they failed over time when pushing the test button all 5 alarms sound. Could it be that the alarms simply hit their end of life due to dust overloading and need replacing? Looking at the Ei3014 and Ei3016 for…

Hi team, Thanks for your help. I have the Ei141RC Aico smoke alarm - wired with 9V battery backup I have 10 of them through my property - all connected on one circuit The green lights are constantly on for all of them meaning mains power seems stable I have recently replaced all batteries with 9V Duracell's and held down reset test button for 10 seconds after installing to reset I have two issues 1. The red light should be flashing every minute but on the downstairs one they flash every 1 second and the upstairs one they are blinking constantly / multiple times per second. It's distracting when trying to sleep. 2. The 4 alarms on…

I have replaced the 9V batteries in 7 BRK mains with battery backup interlinked smoke alarms in a rental property I own (currently empty). I isolated the alarms from the mains using the breaker on the distribution board before removing each alarm and replacing the batteries. Once all the batteries had been replaced and alarms put back up, I switched the power back on. The alarms then all went off and did so for a perhaps a minute or more without stopping. In order to avoid alarming the neighbours and not knowing if they would stop or not I isolated the power again and the alarms stopped. Is this normal, or are they going off when connected to mains power because there is …

My smoke alarm keeps randomly going off... it was only installed 2 years ago so shouldn't be a low battery surely? There is no smoke & we have vacuumed & cleaned it thoroughly. We have turned off all alarms at the fuse box for now as have young kids in bed & typically going off at night. Please help
