  1. Hi Jo we haven't had any feedback from customers yet using the SBBRKSM on the old DETA1111 bases. Sadly, for us there is no way of testing this. The new units were designed to fit on the BRK baseplates but the older units had different wiring and may not be compatible. thanks Rahel

    660MBX

Hi Rob you can replace your BRK670MBX with our Easychange SBBRKSM smoke alarms. In our testing there don't appear to be any issues when mixing the old BRK670MBX units with our SBBRKSM, but we can't guarantee that it will work reliably with a larger system or over long periods of time. Therefore we would recommend that you replace all 7 of your units at the same time. I hope this helps Rahel
  3. Good morning Gareth thank you very much for your question. The easichange SBBRKSM alarm is a new unit we developed specifically so it can be used on the 660MBX and 670MBX baseplates. Like you say logically they should also fit your DETA1111 alarms but we have not tested this and therefore cannot guarantee it will work. thanks Rahel

    660MBX

Good morning the SBBRKSM alarms will fit your 660MBX push fit bases however the colour of the SBBRKSM doesn't quite match your unit. Additionally the 660MBX push fit base is already a deep base which will in combination with the SBBRKSM alarm result in a bulky unit. So you can use the replacement but it might not be aesthetically pleasing. I hope this helps. Rahel
  5. Hi Andy the Kidde Firex KF does not fit the same baseplate. Unfortunately we don't have a replacement which fits onto the existing Deta 1111 baseplate. Thanks Rahel
  6. Hi the manufacturer Britannia chose not to test for Class B and C as the rating would be quite low and people who actually have those fire risks would be better off with a different, more capable model like the A-Foam / B-Foam or Powder.
  7. Good morning the plunger travel of the Dorgard is 2cm so a 5cm gap would be too large. The Geofire Agrippa Acoustic Door Closer might be a solution. This is also battery operated and acoustically triggered and gets installed at the top of the door. Thanks Rahel
  8. Hi Safelincs offers surface mounted drop down seals here which an be used on fire doors with up to 14mm gaps: https://www.safelincs.co.uk/surface-mounted-drop-down-smoke-seal/?q=gap I hope this helps! Rahel
  9. Hello Gary if you require another mains power alarm you will need an electrician to install a new smoke alarm for you. We recommend the Kidde Firex KF smoke alarm as a replacement. Thanks Rahel

    Fire doors

Hello thank you for your post. Please find the answers to your questions from our fire door team below. 1. As you have already had an inspection and you’re aware that certain elements are missing, a further inspection would only confirm the information so you’d be spending out on something it doesn’t sound like you need. It may be worth having the additional work carried out and asking your previous company to carry out a further inspection, particularly as they’ve said they’ll certify the work. 2. Safelincs will not certify remedial works or any installation not carried out by our installers but we obviously can’t comment on other companies’ processes and procedures. 3. It depends on the gap; packing strips and foam can be used up to 25mm but anything larger would need to be filled with fire-rated cement/mortar. Architrave must be fitted with packing strips and foam. Thanks Rahel
  11. Hi Scott the following drop down seal will seal gaps of up to 14mm. It releases the seal on the hinge side of the door first and than releases the seal on the lock side. This means it can be used on floors that aren't perfectly even: https://www.safelincs.co.uk/surface-mounted-drop-down-smoke-seal/?q=drop+down+seal Thanks Rahel
  12. Hi Richard You could perform a reset and reconnection of the system to see if this solves the issue. To reset all your alarms press the black pairing button five times, until the red LED on the front flashes ten times. The pacing/speed at which you press the button is important - too fast or slow and it often won't work. So it can take a few attempts to get it right. Once all units have been reset perform a reconnection. Failing this I'd advise to get the unit swapped out. Thanks Rahel
  13. Hi Scott Safelincs offers a different version of the fire door gap gauge here: https://www.safelincs.co.uk/fire-door-gap-gauge/?q=gap+checker Rahel
  14. Hi Michael The best solution for home owners & flats would be water mist extinguishers. These extinguisher are safe to use & effective for most common types of fires (A, B, C and F) and are also safe to use on electrical equipment. Water Mist extinguishers are also 100% non-harmful and clean to use. They discharge microscopic water droplets which reduces the oxygen content (required for combustion) around the fire, extinguishes the flames and creates a highly effective cooling blanket on the hot fuel, preventing re-ignition. Safelincs has a range of water mist extinguishers here. I hope this helps. Rahel
