Hi, Can you use a softwood door lining with a hardwood fire door? Would that apply to safety regulations or not? Thanks

Good Morning, I am attempting to seek some advice regarding one of our entrances to our business. A few years ago, our business had a glazed front door installed with the mind set that it was Fire Resistant (FD30). We have been recently made aware that the glazed door is not fire resistant and have been requested to take suitable measures to bring the entrance into line with regulations. The position of our business means that the entrance in question comes out onto a fire evacuation staircase so there needs to be some form of fire prevention to ensure that people on the floors above can still use the staircase safely in the event of a fire. Just a query... Is it classed as an obstruction of a fire exit door to have a slam lock latch on one of 3 designated fire exits on the ground floor in our office building? This particular door has an entry system allowing clients to buzz the particular company they would like to see and once inside the door closes onto the latch behind him/her. Please advise. As self employed H+S Adviser/Consultant, I have been asked by a small client about fire doors. Whilst he has swing shut and self closing fire doors in the office, the push-bar fire exit doors have no closing mechanism. 1. Are the swing shut and self closers in the office correct? 2. Does the exit door need a self closer? Thanks

Hi, we have recently built a two storey exstension with loft conversion in Oxford and got the building inspector round to sign it off, but she (the nice lady) has told us that the fd30 doors with a good 3mm gap will need to have intumescent strip routered into them.? On the other side of oxford with a different building inspector we constructed a loft conversion and have had it signed off with no mention of the intumescent stip. Have tried to get information on the net but cant seem to find any such laws. Please can you help.!!!

We are installing an external door leading from our garage to the outside side passage which leads between our house and the side bricked wall of the next doors house. Would this door need to be 30 minute fire rated or because it is an external door can it just be a normal external door? Thanks for your help

I am looking for a heavy duty panic bar door lock to install outdoor on an offshore platform. The lock should be on one side mounted with panic bare and on the other with a lock. As the environment is offshore, I need something heavy duty that can resist the marine environment.

Hello, as an electrical contractor I have been asked to install a fire door exit system which shall notify the works manager in a central location of a factory via an audible alarm or an illuminated sign etc if any one of four fire doors are left open when a building is unoccupied for outwith normal working hours. I own a guest house which has a guest bar, I have been told that I should have a panic bar fitted to the external door. Is this the case? I have looked into exit hardware but there seems to be loads of different types, exit bars, panic bars, panic bolts, latches. can someone help me make sense of all this?

Hi I have seen a few of the Dorgard fire door holders in a nursing home and am considering buying these for my workplace (offices with 3 rooms). The offices are now getting really stuffy and we would like to keep the doors open. But some of the doors are fire doors and we are not supposed to wedge them open. Do we risk a fine by buying these door holders?
