We don't currently have a fire detection system which has been highlighted in our fire risk assessment so I need to rectify this asap. I am hoping that someone would be kind enough to recommend products that would satisfy the following requirements: Grade A, interlinked - WIRELESS Common area (LD2 coverage): 4 x smoke detectors Inside each flat front door: Heat detectors (5 in total) Many thanks in advance... green-foam Posted August 14, 2021 Report Share Posted August 14, 2021 A grade "A fire alarm system" means it must have a separate control panel, this would require specialist knowledge to install/maintain, you should contact a couple of fire alarm companies near you and get two like for like quotes. Are you sure you must have a grade A wireless system? F.Y.I. You can have radio fire alarm devices that communicate with a main panel but they are very expensive, sometimes it is cheaper to have a wired grade A fire alarm installed. This is the word for word specification in our FRA: As per LACoRS Guidance 2008 we would recommend a Grade A: LD2 coverage in common areas, and a heat detector in each flat in the room / lobby opening onto the escape route (interlinked). We've contacted several companies but few respond and the ones that do have quoted £6k-£8k. We are owner occupiers and don't have that much money, so are exploring all of our options to be able to satisfy the FRA specification, while minimising the cost.
