Holiday let fire doors

Featured Replies

I’ve an early 1900s 3 storey holiday let, it has 4 bedrooms which occupy the 2/3rd floors it has one stairwell, travel distance is 16mtrs to exit from furthest bedroom , it has a D LD2 fire alarm system, I’m wondering whether I need FD30s fire doors to protect the escape route or solid timber doors with closers would be sufficient

I would use https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/fire-safety-risk-assessment-sleeping-accommodation which suggests 9 metres for single means of escape so in that case you will need all doors leading on the the stairwell must be FD30 fire doors. An interlinked group D domestic fire alarm should be acceptable.
