Riser/service cupboards fire protection

I was wondering if anyone could advise on providing fire min 30 min fire protection in service cupboards for a block of flats, 

 

the block has 5 storeys.

Do you need to be qualified on installing fire stopping products? I'm a carpenter but have been asked about doing some fire stopping.. I don't really want to do it as I'm not 100% sure on best methods. What would happen if I went a head? Could I get in trouble?

All through the fire safety legislation it emphasizes the need to be a competent person and if you are not, then you could be in trouble but if you wish to consider installing fire stopping products then become a competent person. It's a matter of training and self study, I would start with http://asfp.org.uk/ and check out their publications.
