Emma B Posted July 7, 2024 Report Posted July 7, 2024 My fire door has just been inspected in high rise flats. There are a couple of gaps at the top and bottom of the door where a new lock has been fitted. Is there a type of fire resistant filler that I can use to rectify this, could I fill the gaps with an wood or would I need to repurchase the original lock and replace? I'm really looking for the cheapest option that would pass the next inspection. Also, would I need professional certification on any work that was carried out? Thanks! Quote
Neil Ashdown MAFDI Posted July 8, 2024 Report Posted July 8, 2024 Contact a competent door specialist for an inspection and subsequent remedial works. You could insert suitable hardwood and adhesive to fill those gaps but better to have the door inspected professionally so that you know exactly what type of defects exist and the necessary repairs. Hi Neil, do you know any good and qualified door repair companies in the London area? Quote
Neil ashdown Posted September 3 Report Posted September 3 Sorry I don't, you could try third party certificated companies for example https://www.blueskycert.com/installation-maintenance-and-inspection/ Quote
