July 23, 20223 yr comment_28000 We have a 3 story house. The top floor is a new extension. We have fire doors- but do they need to be self closing ? And if so any ideas what mechanism is appropriate? They start in price from £4- 120- its a mine field! Report
July 25, 20223 yr comment_28072 No, they don't: C5 All fire doorsets, including to flat entrances and between a dwellinghouse and an integral garage, should be fitted with a self-closing device, except for all of the following. a. Fire doorsets to cupboards. b. Fire doorsets to service ducts normally locked shut. c. Fire doorsets within flats and dwellinghouses. Report
August 3, 20223 yr comment_28313 Based on the above useful information (which if I recall correctly was maybe brought in because occupants are thought more likely to close fire doors at night if they don't have closers because closers make people prop the doors open?) can existing closers within dwellings be removed?
