Apartment front door gap 4CM

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently moved into a new build apartment in Manchester and the front door to my apartment has a quite large gap at the bottom (4cm) the apartment door leads to the hallway with other apartments which all seem to have similar sized gaps . I’ve attached images . What could be the reason for these large gaps and does this affect fire & smoke compliance

The reason is the usual shoddy workmanship of modern builds and yes it's a fire safety risk. The developer will try and claim it's fine as it has Building Control sign off, but that doesn't cover workmanship, just that the doors and walls are in the right place and this has nothing to do with the ongoing compliance of the premises under fire legislation. The last developer that tried this on my watch ended up having to give in when the fire service served an Enforcement Notice....

Hi, I have the same problem and in Manchester. From the image it looks like we may be in the same place. What was the resolution?
