Hi

I have a flat on the 10th floor. The front door to the flat opens onto an open (to the open air) walkway shared by 6 other flats which then leads to an internal common area where the lifts are situated. The door is UPVC.

The construction is about 12 years old.

The MA says the flat door is not compliant as not a fire door. I was under the impression fire doors were not a requirement when opening into air, but the MA says otherwise.

Is this correct.

Thanks in anticipation.

If the occupiers of other flats have to pass your front door to get to the escape stair it has to be a fire door, always has been a requirement. If you are the last flat on the row, not as big an issue.
