April 13, 20215 yr comment_19816 Hi I have come across glass blocks as part of the wall in a protected staircase aprox 2m wide to ceiling height. There is no visible marking on the blocks for fire rating. The building is aprox 12 years old and should be built to building regs. Any advise please. Steve Report
April 14, 20215 yr comment_19823 Glass blocks do exist that would satisfy the fire performance requirements, but proving if existing ones are is quite difficult. In theory they should be, but even if the site has been signed off that doesn't actually mean they are, building control completion certificates have little relevance to workmanship & correct use of materials from a fire safety point of view. April 22, 20215 yr comment_19906 If only, for the majority of buildings the Reg 38 info is long gone or the building pre dated the requirement. If the building's Golden Thread is intact and the info is available it is, of course an easy way to verify the items. Report

April 29, 20215 yr comment_19973 Building Regulations (England & Wales). Relates to compiling and handing over fire safety information relating to the build, being given more teeth in the Building Safety Bill. Report
