Old 1960 doors in high rise

Featured Replies

I have a building which is an 1970/60 military tower, now office and accommodation block.T he doors are original and are labelled fire doors. There is no proof these are fire doors.  No O&M or fire door certs

Door hinges are not CE or fire marked, But have fire seals and door closures. can we replace hinges and repairs or do these have to be replaced and under what regs or legislation. as owner of building is stating there are fine as they were fitted like that.

It would be advisable to consult a certificated fire door inspector to undertake on-site inspections to assess the suitability and condition of the existing fire doors.  They should issue a full report detailing the doors and describing any necessary remedial actions.

Avoid inspectors that do not provide sufficiently detailed reports.  Much better to get a report that provides a full description of the work necessary to achieve compliance.

Fire door inspectors are listed at: https://fdis.co.uk/find-an-inspector-2/  and  https://www.blueskycert.com/members-main/#fire
