Certification of fire stopping

The managing agents in the block where I live are using their own in-house work force to do extensive fire stopping.
Do the regulations require independent certification of the finished fire stopping?
What are the labelling requirements?
Many thanks,
Edward

There is no  requirement for independent certification of fire stopping and no labelling requirements. When the work is complete and if subject to building regulations the authorise inspector or the building control officer will issue a completion certificate. Also on completion the premises will be subject to the FRA being reviewed and the FR assessor will check the work and give his/her approval.

Unfortunately a completion certificate has no bearing as to whether the physical works on site are suitable. Third party certification & marking is not required, but desirable. If suitably qualified/experienced a fire risk assessor can assess suitability.

It's important the correct materials are used, the non specialist contractors have a tendency to fill all & sundry gaps with fire retardant foam where in reality only intumescent collars, mastic, ablative batt and other materials would be effective.

If a completion certificate has no bearing as to whether the physical works on site are suitable what is its purpose. I understand it is proof that the building work has been carried out in accordance with Building Regulations and therefore, as far as can be reasonably determined, is built to certain standards that would include the physical works?

I am actually astounded that there is not a requirement for certification for fire stopping.
We are a small internals company who have operatives who are Firas trained but I’ve always maintained if the company are not registered we can’t give the correct certs and can’t carry out the works.
Can anyone clarify please
