Guest MartinTs
I made a solar powered exit sign but worry that it did not allowed to be used. I can not find any standard or approval for such product. The solar panel generates the power is greater than consumption in cloudy days. Could it be classified as a self-illuminated sign? If I find a laboratory to test it, what is the standard to be conformed? e.g. BSxxxx-x. Regards, Martin
green-foam
A couple of questions. 1) If it is inside how will it be charged? (The sun is not bright enough indoors) 2) As it is an emergency / exit light what will tell it to illuminate? (If you run a cable, it may as well be a mains fed light)
Tom Sutton
Further to green-foam questions most illuminated exit signs are used where the normal lighting in switch off during the time the premises is occupied like cinemas, theatres and clubs consequently where is the light coming from the energise the solar cells? Incidentally there is no British Standard.
