chris6160 Posted Tuesday at 05:11 Report Posted Tuesday at 05:11 Hi, I've recently been put a 1 day online fire door install course from work( I tried getting the 3 day course with 2 day workshop experience) but the course has left more wlquestions than answers. Im really struggling with the 2-4mm spacings. I can get the spacings all the way around the door just fine but when I fit the intumescent the doors won't shut. If I take more of the door there not to regs. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Quote
Mike North Posted yesterday at 09:13 Report Posted yesterday at 09:13 The door should be routered to accept the intumescent strips, they should not alter the door gap. The smoke fins can sometimes bind, some Vaseline can be applied to soften the blade Quote
AnthonyB Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Are you a qualified and time served joiner or equivalent? If not an online course for a very practical task seems inadequate, especially as it appears not to have even taught about routing and routing depths for seals? Sounds like the employer has tried to save a few quid but let you down in the process. Quote
