Timber Doors in Aluminum Frames

Featured Replies

Hi, We have come across some Timber Doors in Aluminum Frames. No evidence on the doors, no documents from site so no information available on these doors.

Door leaf is FD30 with both 10mm & 20mm Blade installed, has large gaps of 7mm between head (Handle side)

Can remedial work be carried out on these or recommended for a new door set?

Thanks,

Stu

Based on my experience it might be from this company?   https://www.komfort.com/products/timber-doors-frames/?portfolioCats=173

Hi both,

I’ve come across similar door sets on another site recently. The door leaf is clearly certificated; however, the data sheet specifies that 3 hinges are required, while the installed doors only have 2 per leaf.

It appears to be a doorset rather than a door assembly, and there are multiple examples of the same installation across the site, which suggests it was supplied as a complete set. Unfortunately, the site team are unable to provide any supporting documentation.

Would either of you have any idea who the manufacturer might be, or have you seen similar before?

Thanks

This looks like an office door and has no fire door signage.

Have you looked at the strategy for the building as sometimes the builder will install fire doors where they are not required so they all look the same. See ADB para 2.24, 2.25, 2.27 to see if it needs to be a protected corridor.

If they are fire doors then they need 3 hingers

It will be necessary to contact the partitioning company for data. This is a case of the lack of accessible 'as-built' documentation being a barrier to confirming compliance. As Mike says, these might not be intended to perfom as fire doors so consult the most recent fire risk assessment for information.
