Guest Kim
Hi, I need to install a door closer that conforms to BS EN 1154 but the fire door itself is small and opens to an under stairs cupboard with limited room, so a typical overhead isn’t an option. So far I can only find the Astra 4000 series which, I think, conforms to this standard. Is this correct? Any other closers that I could be looking at? Any help/advice appreciated! Neil ashdown
First make sure that the door is completely solid and suitable to accept a concealed self-closer, many fire doors are not. If the door is new, you can easily find out by consulting the door manufacturer. I understand that Safelincs have a selection of concealed self-closers. Ian Cavanagh
Why are you fitting a closer to a cupboard? Doors need specific test evidence to permit the use of concealed closers, and hinge side mounted closer bring their own set of unique obstacles.
