Old 1960 doors in high rise

Featured Replies

Good afternoon, i have a 9 story old military building with doors that labelled fire doors. they were installed in 19760-70s. There is no O&M manual nor fire certs. where do we stand. how do we maintain these as fire doors ( no fie door hinges but seals are on them). or do they need to be replaced and under what legislation. As they would have been install under crown amenity.

It would be advisable to consult a certificated fire door inspector to undertake on-site inspections to assess the suitability and condition of the existing fire doors.  They should issue a full report detailing the doors and describing any necessary remedial actions.

Avoid inspectors that do not provide sufficiently detailed reports.  Much better to get a report that provides a full description of the work necessary to achieve compliance.

Fire door inspectors are listed at: https://fdis.co.uk/find-an-inspector-2/  and  https://www.blueskycert.com/members-main/#fire
