Replacing FD hinges

Featured Replies

I'm a newcomer to this. I'm looking to replace the TUFF 4" BRASS fd60 HINGES ON ABOUT 15 DOORS (3 PER). The hinges have all been painted over andi cannot remove the paint. The question is, are the fixing patterns (ANSI) for hinges the same or will the hole positions be different?

Thanks for any help

Probably the old hinges will also be a different thickness both in the size of each leaf and depth closed , so the hinge rebates will need  chiseling out deeper , dont forget the added depth of the intumescent hinge pads under the hinges as well that need to be fitted.

If ater fitting the new hinges, and pads, the door doesnt close, youll need to plane the door to size on the hinge side , if any locks or ironmongery is fitted on the pull/push side.
