June 17, 201114 yr comment_157 Good morning, Would you be kind enough to give me some advice regarding the above withing a domestic property please? We had a fire door & intumescent fire strip fitted in our property when we had an extension done recently. The fire door was between our garage & our utility room as part of the new extension. The strip has been fitted between the framework before the fire door on the utility side of the door (leading into our garage) Several people withing the building trade & a Fireman have advised its incorrect & in wrong place? Sounds like it should either be withing the actual door itself or withing the framework on the other side of the door (garage side)? We're not 100% sure but obviously a bit concerned due to health & safety & also there being an isue with getting through the building inspector etc?? Would you be kind enough to confirm if this is in fact wrong, and whether I should seek an independent assessor of some description ie from the council etc to check & verify? Report

The seals should either be on the 44mm wide side of the door or in/on the frame facing the side of the door. The seal should not be facing the large leaf of the door! Report
July 4, 201114 yr comment_203 I agree with Torx if you go to http://www.firesafe.org.uk/fire-doors/ there is a diagram showing the location where the intumescent strip should be fitted. On both long sides and the head of the fire door. Try http://www.ifsa.org.uk/pdf/Information%20Sheet%20No1.pdf for more info. Report
September 17, 201411 yr comment_6693 Good afternoon, Are timber double door sets with as FR30S required to have rebated jambs? Thanks Report
September 18, 201411 yr comment_6695 Double swing fire rated doors will have no rebates, but single swing usually do, if it is a certified fire door set it will have documentation and labels confirming they are FD30s fire doors, this is the positive way to identify fire doors. Report
