August 24, 20178 yr comment_10715 We live in a building converted into 5 flats (three storeys, plus a basement flat). The flat owners have share of freehold, and have appointed a managing agent to manage the property. Our managing agent recently organised a FRA, and now says there are costly upgrades 'legally required' to meet the fire safety requirements. He charges a percentage of the total cost for organising such works. We don't want to invalidate our insurance and more importantly are concerned that the building is safe, but the upgrades he is recommending total thousands of pounds. September 4, 20178 yr comment_10733 Can't argue with any of it other than trying to flog the flat owners a fire blanket and foam extinguisher (the latter would be the wrong type anyway) It's cheaper and more practicable than pulling all the ceilings and walls down to uprate the fire resistance and replace all the front doors.
