Fire door regulations of pre 2000

Featured Replies

Can anyone assist on the following please

Did labelling of certified fire doors and hinge appear prior to 2000

I live in 3 storey apartment block and during recent investigation found no markings on either door or hinges identifying fire safety regulations

I have been advised that the doors are steel lined, would this be a common fire door construction in the 2000 era

Any advise would be gratefully accepted

It did exist since the 80's - but it wasn't (& still isn't) mandatory to be certified and marked.

Some composite flat entrance fire doors from that period had metallic faces with timber stiles and rails and the core filled with foam.  In my experience these types of doors do not carry any marks and the hinges (as apart of the door-set) or evidence of certification but they may still be fire doors.

If you require confirmation of likely fire performance, you could engage a fire door inspector that has wide experience with composite fire doors.
