Gap between fire door frame and wall

Featured Replies

Hi,

What is the maximum gap legally allowed between the wall and the fire door frame?

A few of us leaseholders went collectively to get our front doors replaced and mine was done yesterday.

I was reluctant at first due to the reduction in width of the new door compared to my previous door but I was convinced that there would be 1-2 cms max gap.

But when the frame was installed yesterday I was shocked to find the gap of approx 2 inches on one side and more than 1 inch on the other sides. The gap has been filled with fire retardant foam.

I also noticed that the door frame is actually more than 12mm narrower than what was mentioned in the final specification.

I wanted to check what options do I have.
