  1. Hi, I live in a 1990s 3 storey town house and am looking to replace the door latches, locks and hinges as they are tired and discoloured. On inspection there are no intumescent pads under the hinges, latches etc. Do I need to fit any with the new door furniture to comply with current regulations? Many thanks, Nick.
  2. Good Morning, I have recently purchased a 1990s 3 storey town house which has fire doors throughout and I am in the process of redecorating and want to replace the tired brass effect door furniture and hinges with new polished chrome. I have bought some CE approved fire door tubular latches and have sourced some new handles but am struggling to find the equivalent door hinges. they look like a standard 100mm door hinge with no markings on them and they are 1mm thick. The nearest fire door hinges I can find are 2mm thick and have different hole positions to the original. Am I ok to fit these newer ones, it would mean taking off 1mm from the frame, or can I use a standard door hinge as a direct replacement. Also what would be the best filler to use to fill up the redundant holes And finally, all the door closers have been disconnected throughout the house, do I need to reconnect them all? Many thanks.
