Old battery operated alarm

Featured Replies

I had a loft conversion around 5 years ago and I think the builders left an old battery operated alarm under the new flooring.

We have heard a beep for a year or so but last night this changed to a ringing sound like an old modem telephone line trying to connect.

There was a new mains powered alarm fitted at the same time in the same area.

I shall be grateful of anyone can advise whether either of the alarms could cause this before I start pulling up floorboards

Thank you.

How long is a piece of string I think you will have to investigate to find out. An old domestic smoke alarm could cause the beeping, but for a year i think that would be unlikely and I have no idea about the ringing. Have you checked all cupboards and such for a forgotten smoke detector or co detector.
