Who is responsible for evacuation plan in let sub-unit?

Featured Replies

Hi,
We are a GP surgery and part of our building is rented out to a pharmacy business. They have a separate entrance/burglar alarm etc to us. We are currently updating out fire safety policy and wondered, when it comes to fire evacuation, are we responsible for evacuating the pharmacy or is it their responsibility?

Many thanks,
Liz

In a multi occupied premises the employer is the Responsible Person of each area he/she has control of and has to implement articles 8 to 22 of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Fire evacuation and other responsibilities fall within those articles so the pharmacist has to conduct his/her own Fire Risk Assessment as so do you.
