Fire Wardens in schools

Hi

In our school we have about 350 pupils. We have a routine whereby staff check toilets etc when the fire alarm is raised but we do not have amy named fire wardens or fire marshalls. Is there a legal requirement to have them? We do frequent fire drills with blocked exits etc and have not found any errors in our system.

Thanks for your help.

Jane

It is up to the Responsible Person as defined by The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, to appoint competent persons to assist, if it is thought necessary. The term Fire Warden is not defined by the order, just competent persons, and as all teachers are part of the fire evacuation procedure, is there then any need for named persons, providing they all are adequately trained. It appears the procedures are working well why change it.

How many out of ten for punctuation? :)
