July 29Jul 29 comment_56051 Can anyone confirm if the fire alarm door release devices has it ever been acceptable for these to be wired of the sounder circuit rather than direct to a relay on the fire panel? Report

At least 26 years, I'd need to do out my 1988 & 1980 copies of BS5839-1 to check earlier Report
August 11Aug 11 comment_56082 In which case it wasn't - by then BS5839-1 required compliance with BS7273 where the fire alarm is used to actuate other fire protection systems and BS7273-4, which covers doors, doesn't allow it in Clause 10.1 as silencing the alarm should not de-actuate any release mechanism (i.e. return electrically held-open fire doors to the held-open state) which means they can't be off the sounder circuit.
