May 18, 20251 yr comment_49270 We have a chips shop with a 2 bedroom apartment on top, the apartment has its own side entrance through the alley way which also has a separate back door for the chip shop do I need a fire alarm system which inter connects to the apartment above using a repeater panel so many panel in the shop and repeater panel in the apartment zones loft unused - zone 1 Apartment - zone 2 chip shop - zone 3 basement unused - zone 4 or can I install domestic smoke alarm and heat alarm in the apartment and a Ctec fire alarm system in the chip shop Report
May 19, 20251 yr comment_49275 Your fire risk assessment, a legal requirement in ALL premises should address this. It all depends on the fire separation between the chip shop & apartment - if it can be proven to be 60 minutes fire resistance then you won't need the building wide fire alarm system, just the Part 6 Grade D smoke/heat alarms to the flat and (if required, it may not need it in this case)a separate Part 1 system just to the Chip Shop Report
May 21, 20251 yr Author comment_49298 Hi thank you for replying so the apartment has interlinked smoke alarm and heat alarm off the lighting circuit. chip shop has a fire alarm system like Ctec fire system and double fire board on the ceiling which would be 60min fire or can we have ceiling tiles which are 60min fire approved in the chip shop in stead of pulling for all the current ceiling tiles and installing double fire boards Report
May 28, 20251 yr comment_49421 If it already has the boarding you don't need to add more. A 60 minute suspended ceiling grid may be an option, but only if there is no risk in the void Report
May 29, 20251 yr Author comment_49438 Currently has none fire boards also do I need a smoke alarm on the entrance stairs Report
May 30, 20251 yr comment_49484 If it's not boarded then the shop fire alarm will need detection throughout and sounders into the flat. The flat's system wouldn't normally need a smoke alarm at the foot of the stairs, but would require one to the stair head & internal hallway plus ideally one to the principal habitable room and a heat alarm to the kitchen Report
