fire exit in dementia care home

Hi

Can anyone advise - customer contacted me to take a look at a upvc outward opening door (designated fire exit) fitted with a strand panic bar, the home has a problem with residents wondering out through this exit, can anyone suggest or advise. I wondered if a maglock connected to the fire alarm system along with break glass box would be acceptable. Any advise much appreciated.

Whilst most people fit maglocks and green break glasses strictly speaking this isn't correct as the exit is no longer panic proof. The correct solution is explained here:

This is the The Door & Hardware Federation guide to BS EN 13637:2015 Standard for Building hardware. Electrically controlled exit systems for use on escape routes.
