Hi, How would I get hold of a zonal plan for a fire alarm system in a building I look after. I have already emailed the maker of the system with no reply this being Protec. Thanks Mick
  2. Hi Thanks both for your replies, but I said infrequently used, not unoccupied. But would agree with curly wig statement LOL.
  3. Hi I know british standards state alarms should be tested weekly. My question is two fold, as I understand it BS are not a legal requirement would you agree? But a good idea to follow like HS guidance. The other question is the weekly test, do they actually need to be weekly. If a building is used infrequently could the fire alarm test be say monthly? Thanks Mick
  4. Hi Anthony, thanks so much of a grey area, gets very complicated. I have always been informed exits must open in direction of travel. Mick
  5. In the RRO quite a few of the regulations are prefixed with the words Where Necessary. (as my subject) But not sure how this is implemented, as the first one states 14.—(1) Where necessary in order to safeguard the safety of relevant persons, the responsible person must ensure that routes to emergency exits from premises and the exits themselves are kept clear at all times. But does the prefix go along with all following regulations, as this wouldn't make sense, so (d) emergency doors must open in the direction of escape; this shouldn't be "where necessary" surely this is a must i would think, and similar applies to others in the category. Like the below. g) emergency routes and exits must be indicated by signs; and (h) emergency routes and exits requiring illumination must be provided with emergency lighting of adequate intensity in the case of failure of their normal lighting. Also does anyone know if call points should have signage, this is a bit of a grey area to me. Any help Thanks. Mick
  6. Hi Tom, i have seen lots of your posts and you know your stuff. I have tried to send private message but wouldn't let me. DOH. In regards to fire signage exit signs, i m pretty sure the downward facing arrow was put in place in the year 2000. But when i put exit signs up i usually put above the door, as long as you can see this clearly. As you know even though shouldn't people do wedge open fire doors, and then you wouldn't be able to see the sign, would you agree. PS do think your information and guidance in general is great. Mick
