I have been asked to quote to replace existing Dorma floor springs ( which are not fire rated) fitted to double cross corridor FD 30 & 60 Sapele faced polished doors all with vision panels to a College in Birmingham after a regulation visit by a Fire Inspector He has suggested we fit 3no 100mm fire hinges to the doors Our problem is the swing doors open both ways and the edges of the doors have been curved in manufacture to allow the doors to swing freely, so we cannot fit standard fire hinges without cutting off the curved edges on the hanging side to both doors. We could fit a 15mm hardwood strip to the hanging side & fit the required fire hinges. We would also need to alter & adjust the existing door frames & fit door stops which has been overlooked Would this process affect the fire rating & integrity of the door as we cannot give a manufacturer's certificate? I have suggested we could replace the original floor springs & fit a TS 550 NV FP door spring I look forward to any advice Pete
