  1. Good Morning,

I have recently purchased a 1990s 3 storey town house which has fire doors throughout and I am in the process of redecorating and want to replace the tired brass effect door furniture and hinges with new polished chrome.

I have bought some CE approved fire door tubular latches and have sourced some new handles but am struggling to find the equivalent door hinges. they look like a standard 100mm door hinge with no markings on them and they are 1mm thick. The nearest fire door hinges I can find are 2mm thick and have different hole positions to the original.

Am I ok to fit these newer ones, it would mean taking off 1mm from the frame, or can I use a standard door hinge as a direct replacement.

Also what would be the best filler to use to fill up the redundant holes

And finally, all the door closers have been disconnected throughout the house, do I need to reconnect them all?

    Many thanks.
