  1. A large place of assembly has two fire exits. To permit the maximum number of persons attending events (approx 200), the main entrance has be included in the calculation for the number and width of fire exits. Do the main entrance doors have to be rehung to open outwards? I would appreciate any response.
  2. Hi Neil, Thanks for your response. They don't comply and I've recommended that they be replaced by certificated fire doorsets. There are predominately glass doorsets available which comply with current regulations. The glazing is held in a metal frame and have the intumescent strips and cold smoke seals fitted. Upon further investigation, it would seem that the building has recently been completely refurbished and I suspect the the tenants have been allowed to chose the entrance doorset to their particular premises - with no thought as to whether they are suitable or even consulting Building Control. Some tenants traditional timber doorset comply, but the few glass doorsets obviously do not.
  3. A multi-occupied office building comprising ground and 4 upper floors. Mostly three companies per upper floor and exiting into the lift lobby, and from there, the staircase enclosure. Some of the companies have glass doors - single or double. No intumescent strips or cold smoke seals are evident. No markings were found on the doors or glazing which indicates any fire resistance. Its quite possible that the individual company has fitted the entrance doorsets retrospectively as some of the other companies have a traditional wooden fire doorset - in a traditional wall. An 8mm gap exists in the centre of one set of doors. What does the panel think?
  4. The Directors didn't pay for the FRA themselves alone. You all contributed through your payments to your management company. Therefore, the report belongs to all of you. Bloody cheek!
