I have been informed by the contractor who installed Fire Door Cupboards to the electrical intake cupboards under the stairs in the communal areas that the intumescent strip is over and above regulation requirements for fire rating in that area.
Please can you confirm that this is the case.

You should get in contact with the manufacturer of the cupboard and see what he has to say. Did any documentation come with the cupboard you may find useful information there,
