Guest Barry
I am the owner of a single unit within a purpose built block of Student Accommodation apartments. Am i allowed to fit a mirror to the inside of my unit's Main Entry Door with appropriate sized screws?
Neil Ashdown MAFDI
What size are the screws? Where on the door are you fitting the mirror (will it be near the door edges) and how big and how heavy is it? What have the block owners/mangers said about this? Guest Barry
Thanks for the reply. Not sure about screw size as haven't received the mirror yet. It will be fitted in the centre of the door and is 30cm x 120cm x 0.4cm all glass mirror with no trim. Currently there are no block managers/owners as they went in to administration /receivership a month or so ago. All we have are a security team who are onsite keeping the building open and safe. Guest Barry
Just calculated the weight to be approx. 3.6kg.
Neil Ashdown MAFDI
In my view, the mirror is rather large and heavy. I would not recommend fitting such a mirror to a fire door due to risk of causing twist to the timber door leaf. Much better on the wall or maybe a wardrobe, if possible.
