Preventative measure - Arson attack through letterbox

Featured Replies

Hello,

I woke up today and noticed someone had put a lit cigarette through my letterbox which defused on the carpet luckily, i don't know if this was a case of mistaken house or just a random moron, either way i'm treating it very seriously. :(

I wanted to find an inexpensive solution to prevent this resulting in a fire if it happens again, I'm on a budget and looked at fireproof mats and such but they are quite expensive, would anyone happen to know a cost effective solution to prevent a fire being caused by a lit cigarette through the letterbox, I suppose I need something like a cage with fireproof mat inside or something like a rug that extends a long way?

Hope someone can help.

Kind regards,

Daniel.

Hi Daniel

A distressing situation! I am glad for you that no serious damage was caused.

One solution are anti-arson letterboxes which will safely hold burning materials and liquids coming through the letterbox. These are made from non-flammable materials and some of them have integrated extinguishers to  extinguish the fire.

Kind Regards

Harry
