  1. I wonder if somebody could help, I have just built a one bedroom unit in the Georgian house in the basement I had ordered an inward opening tilt door but the builder installed an opening door which doesn’t tilt and therefore cannot give ventilation without the door being open. I wonder if somebody could help, I have just built a one bedroom unit in a Georgian house in the basement I had ordered an inward opening tilt door but the builder installed an outward opening door which doesn’t tilt and therefore cannot give ventilation without the door being fully open. I was told this was due to fire regs but there are numerous other escapes in the flat through the patio sliding doors and also out through the front door. From the patio there are stairs leading to the garden and the side entrance to the road Numerous other escapes in the flat through the patio sliding doors and also out through the front door. Could somebody confirm the builder was correct or could I have had an inward opening door and still be in line with or fire regs thank you
  2. Tom , i have recently converted a Georgian house and in the basement is a one bedroom flat with a patio leading from the lounge and another leading from the bedroom. I ordered sliding patio doors for the lounge and a tilt and turn for the bedroom so it can be used for venting and access to the patio. This would open into the bedroom. The builder without reference to me installed a regular door opening out onto the patio stating the tilt turn was against fire regs. i don't believe this is the case can you confirm she was correct or could i have installed the tilt option which for a bedroom was the best to allow ventilation while maintaining security for the resident. Now for ventilation in these hot days the door needs to be open and as it is a basement it is a risk. i welcome your advice regards Leigh
