Internal Sliding Door Leading To A Fire Escape/Main Entrance and Exit

Hi all,

I'm looking for a little more clarity over a building lock up procedure.

We have a small entrance foyer that has an automatic sliding door to allow some protection from the elements from the main exit/entrance to the building. This door is lockable, however I understand that we can not lock this door as it leads to the main fire escape when the building is unoccupied.

During building lock up we set the door to permanently closed until we're operational but some senior staff are locking the door  - is this correct or do we need to keep the internal door unlocked in the event of a fire?

Any clarity on this area would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Rikki
