Problems with the new Ei146e

Featured Replies

I’m having a long drawn out issue with newly installed smoke alarms.  Back in January I realised that our old alarms were past their recommended “replace by” date so purchased three new Ei146e alarms to replace the old Ei141RC alarms, one for each of our three floors.

I had big problems trying to get them installed successfully and eventually managed it after several interactions with the wholesaler and the manufacturer.  However, very soon afterwards the top floor alarm started beeping suggesting a problem with the battery but as the battery was brand new the problem had to be elsewhere.

After lots more back and forth between me, the wholesaler and the manufacturer they eventually agreed to provide a replacement.  I installed it and it’s been fine ever since.

Now the alarm on the first floor has started to beep and in fact refuses to be reinstalled without setting off the whole alarm system.  I’m now wondering whether there is an inherent problem with these new alarms.

Has anyone else had similar experience to me and does anyone have any recommendations on how to deal with this issue.

Many thanks,

James

Aico smoke alarms are the most reliable brand of smoke alarm there is, but as you said

I can only suggest there is a problem with the wiring, but without it being tested (There may be induced voltage or high resistance or...........)

The only thing I can suggest is you get an electrician to thoroughly check the cables etc
