Guest DavidBo
Can you advise the best way to provide 30min fire protection to doors with stain-glass panels in them. Possibly Pyro glass, but how to install?
Tom Sutton
I do not see how you can achieve 30 mins fire resistance if the stain-glass panel if it is a genuine lead lite panel. If you are considering adding a pane on pyro glass to the risk side of the door you have to use a suitable method of fixing, which I cannot see how you could achieve it considering the width of the door. Check out the document below and you will see the method of fixing FR glass is not simple. http://www.ggf.org.uk/assets/FRGG_BPG_edition_5_Summer_2011_-_16-08-2011-4e4a7f50398c2.pdf
Guest Amanda
Hello, I was just wondering the outcome of this? I have a Victorian door with illustrated glass - wondering if it is possible to fit fire resistant clear glass to make it compliant. Many thanks. Neil ashdown
Yes it would be interesting to see what happened. It may be possible to install secondary glazing to form a fire rated panel whilst retaining the existing heritage glazing. A suitable survey by a competent person would be necessary first.
